Year 7 Pupils enjoyed a guided tour at the National Marine Aquarium yesterday. Roger the tour guide, shared facts about the marine life giving pupils a greater understanding of the species they will be studying in art.
These included where the fish are found, how they live, how a star fish sees out of the end of each leg and if a leg gets chopped off how they grow another one!
Pupils were then free to sketch the exotic fish whilst studying textures, patterns and vivid colours. The tanks and layout at the Aquarium allowed pupils to lie on the floor and draw as the rays and sharks swam over head.
One of the highlights of the trip was watching the sharks being fed whilst the octopus stuck its legs all over the marine biologist!
