Last Friday, Year 5 pupils spent a day at Wildwood Escot in their Anglo-Saxon village, learning about life during Anglo Saxon times. They learned about the techniques involved in wattle and daubing, pole lathing, wood carving, jewellery making from metal at the blacksmiths, Saxon penny making, corn grinding, bread making and how to keep warm in an Anglo-Saxon hut. They also looked at various artefacts of the period and enjoyed learning about lynx, boar, otters and birds of prey and how they featured in the lives of the Anglo Saxons.
