Mount Kelly Prep is delighted to have been awarded a prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag.
The programme recognises that many young people have a strong desire to actively protect our planet, however the thought of tackling environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity-loss or plastic pollution can leave them feeling overwhelmed and wondering where to begin. Eco-Schools provides a simple, seven-step framework which empowers young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond.
The Eco-Club pupil committee at the Prep was commended for its inclusive approach with pupils selected based on their passion and commitment to bringing about change. The pupils’ Environmental Review identified gaps in the school’s existing environmental activity and recognised the great work already being done in creating biodiverse school grounds. During the past year, the committee also invited a speaker to talk to pupils about sustainable clothing, delivered whole-school assemblies, and created posters, videos and shared information on the Prep’s Eco-Board.
