Following a series of preliminaries, ‘spell offs’ and semi-finals, last week’s Headmaster’s Assembly became a hotbed of lexical challenge for the Mount Kelly Spelling Bee Final 2024, with three pupils from each house competing for house points and exhibiting their spelling prowess to the roars and encouragement of their peers.

Demonstrating the Mount Kelly values of courage and commitment, all pupils in Years 9 to 11 entered the competition, regardless of their own attitudes to spelling, and supported their peers with real spirit and gusto in the final.

Congratulations goes to School House winners: Iman, Meral and Annabelle, but sincere respect also goes to everyone who embraced the challenge. Hopefully, everyone now knows how to spell meditterranean. Oops! Mediterranean.
