Mount Kelly Swimming Summer Success

Mount Kelly swimmers are celebrating outstanding success in the water this summer with momentous performances across international and national events.

Eight Mount Kelly swimmers were selected on to national teams for the European Junior Swimming Championships which took place in Vilnius, Lithuania in early July.

Highlights of the event, were when Lithuanian Mount Kelly pupil, Mantas, claimed the title of European Junior Champion in the 50-metre Backstroke with a senior national record time of 24.68, alongside Hollie and Blythe who also took Gold representing Great Britain in the 4 x 100-metre Mixed Medley Relay.

Mount Kelly highlights in the European Junior Championships:

  • Mantas – Gold in 50-metre Backstroke and Bronze in 4 x 100-metre Mixed Medley Relay (Lithuania)
  • Hollie – Gold in 4 x 100-metre Mixed Medley Relay and Bronze in 100-metre Butterfly (Great Britain)
  • Blythe – Gold in 4 x 100-metre Mixed Medley Relay and Bronze in 50-metre Backstroke (Great Britain)
  • Jonathan – Silver in 4 x 200-metre Freestyle Relay
  • Flawia (Poland) qualified to the final of both the 50-metre and 100-metre Butterfly
  • Edie (Great Britain) made the semi-final of the 200-metre Butterfly
  • Brydan made the semi-final of the 200-metre Backstroke and Aviva (Austria) set a lifetime best in the 200-metre Individual Medley.

In Sheffield at the 2024 British Summer Championships, Mount Kelly once again delivered brilliant results on the national stage with 21 different swimmers winning a total of 29 national medals and making 73 finals.

  • Gabrielle – 50-metre Breaststroke
  • Asia – 50-metre Breaststroke
  • Blythe – 50-metre Backstroke, 100-metre Backstroke, and 50-metre Butterfly
  • Hollie – 50-metre Butterfly, 100-metre Butterfly, and 100-metre Freestyle
  • Abdul – 50-metre Freestyle, 50-metre Butterfly, and 100-metre Butterfly
  • Edie – 100-metre Butterfly

Silver

  • Women’s 4 x 100-metre Freestyle Relay (Chloe, Sophie, Beth & Hollie)
  • Women’s 4 x 200-metre Freestyle Relay (Hollie, Chloe, Sophie & Beth)
  • Women’s 4 x 100-metre Medley Relay (Blythe, Jas, Hollie & Beth)
  • Men’s 4 x 100-metre Freestyle Relay (Ben, Ralph, Alex, Abdul & Ryan)
  • Men’s 4 x 100-metre Medley Relay (Isaac, Will, Ralph & Abdul)
  • Edie – 200-metre Butterfly
  • Abdul – 100-metre Freestyle
  • Joe – 50-metre Freestyle and 50-metre Butterfly
  • Sierrah – 100-metre Butterfly
  • Blythe – 100-metre Butterfly
  • Brydan – 200-metre Backstroke

Bronze

  • Joey – 100-metre Breaststroke
  • Josh – 50-metre Breaststroke and 100-metre Breaststroke
  • Asia – 100-metre Breaststroke
  • Sierrah – 200-metre Butterfly

Mount Kelly swimmers went on to win a further five Gold and five Silver medals at the Swim England National Summer Meet as well as three Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze at the Swim Wales National Summer Meet.

“Although we count the medals at the end of the year, every single one of our swimmers has pushed their boundaries and demonstrated exceptional skills.  I couldn’t be prouder of their enormous achievements as I know the dedication and amount of training and effort that goes on behind the scenes.”
