Chicago hit the Mount Kelly stage on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in two truly outstanding performances. The reviews received sum it up perfectly – a huge well done to everyone involved in the production.
It is an utter privilege to write this review. A joy; because that’s what the Mount Kelly’s production of Chicago was from start to finish. Chicago felt like a true culmination of all that has been nurtured, learnt, absorbed and crafted over the years. I have been fortunate enough to see many high-end productions at Mount Kelly in recent years, but in Chicago there was an exciting shift. From the moment I entered the Theatre, I knew I was in for a treat. The welcome – as if arriving at a theatre to see Vaudeville performers, the creatively informative programme, tables adorned with flowers and martini glasses, the excellent sound of the band, the glittering costumes and the artistic set; the attention to detail was beyond excellent.
The whole cast brought their A-Game of Razzle Dazzle to the show, together with skilled, magical and poignant moments. The talent was incredible, and it was obvious that it had been pulled together with expert hands.
What a triumph! What a showcase of incredible talent! Thank you so very much for the most amazing evening last night. We both thoroughly enjoyed it so huge thanks to you and all those involved for putting on such a fantastic event. All the hard work really paid off as we were royally entertained.
Everyone remained in character, confident and in the moment throughout the show…a triumph of collaboration and inclusion! The company gave really assured renditions of some quite challenging songs with lovely individual vocal performances and, despite the size of hall and the orchestra, the sound balance and clarity were spot on throughout. You have set yourselves a very high benchmark to match in future years. Well done.
