World Book Day 2025

Posted: 6th March 2025

The whole school has embraced World Book Day today. At the the Prep and College, pupils and staff dressed as their favourite book characters. There was a World Book Day themed assembly at the Prep and activities in the College Library, including an animal origami challenge using recycled books and guess the book challenges. Local book shop Book Stop also opened a pop up shop in the College Library this morning and will visit the Prep tomorrow.

In the Pre-Prep, the children have immersed themselves in a vast array of activities to celebrate books and reading every day this week. This began with a wonderful trip to Cardinham woods in search of Stickman. They relished the opportunity to meet local author and illustrator Rachel Skinner, participated in a speed read in which Mrs Salisbury rang the school bell every 5 minutes and the teachers swapped rooms to read a favourite story, and Year 2 class read their Tiny Twisted Tales to the Year 1 children. There was huge excitement about donning their pjs and having a bedtime story read by Mr Floyd whilst sipping hot chocolate.

On World Book Day, the Pre-Prep children brought in a shoe box connected to their favourite book, which included Paddington Bear, Hug, My Family and Other Animals and Harry and the Dinosaurs. They had fun trying to guess which story they had brought in using the clues in their boxes.
