Mount Kelly Career Strategy
Aims
CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) at Mount Kelly is a progressive journey. The programme is planned so that pupils receive the relevant careers information and education that is suitable to their age. The progression throughout the years encourages pupils to be proactive about their future and actively seek careers advice and guidance. The Guidance Department is dedicated to tailoring the provision to meet pupils’ needs in order to help them on their future path. The programme allows for impartial advice and guidance, making pupils the centre focus and is designed to help pupils plan and take control of their future.
Objectives
- To source and provide up-to-date information about occupations, fields of work, undergraduate courses and apprenticeship opportunities
- To help pupils understand and develop the necessary skills to equip them for whatever career path they choose.
- To provide opportunities for pupils to understand their competencies, aspirations and options through a variety of means, including personal discussion with the Guidance team.
In addition to providing expert advice on all career options, the Guidance team assists with work experience placements and oversees the links between the school and local businesses. Our annual Careers Fair in September gives all pupils the opportunity to meet employers and representatives from universities. Further visits throughout the year from alumni and industry professionals allows our pupils to explore a range of potential careers.
